Collaboration Campus for Collective Intelligence 2.0None of Us Is as Smart as All of UsIf none of us is as smart as all of us, then creating shared resources, shared social and knowledge capital that strengthen your group (organisation, team, community, network), is one of the smartest things you can do. The function of the Collaboration Campus is to provide a space for mastering the arts of collaborative learning, just by being present in the campus community, thus help raising your collective intelligence to its next level that we call CI 2.0. What Is a Collaboration CampusRapid and effective response to fast-moving opportunities and threats requires (a) accelerated knowledge development, (b) raising competence in collaborative learning, and (c) a knowledge ecosystem which supports learning communities. The Collaboration Campus provides for all three requirements. However it is not one of the ready-made, proprietary virtual campuses, where you can sign up for a mass-produced course, today. It is a foundational architectural design and methodology for building highly-customizable and scalable online platforms to support rich collaboration practices in online communities. It is platform-independent, i.e. can be used for upgrading the value of any collaboration system currently used by your group. In the last quarter of 2008, we will release a demo to illustrate the ways in which the CIL Collaboration Campus™ can be implemented, built on Drupal, the leading, open source, collaboration platform and content management system. The CIL Collaboration Campus™ design for creating advanced online environments is built on the research-based principles of the "community intelligence" innovation architecture, a proven framework for rapid deployment of learning community infrastructures. Tailored to the aspirations of its user community, it can be implemented on top of a variety of off-the-shelf collaboration engines. The "Campus" Metaphor"Campus" signifies a place where people come to learn, gain experience, interact with other people, acquire knowledge, friendships and valuable social relationships. The CIL Collaboration Campus™ design consists of a rich and evolving set of learning resources and tools, organized around the spatial metaphor of "campus" which provides an easy-to-navigate interface. Culture of UseThe strategic advantage that can be gained from advanced collaboration technologies is not in the tools themselves but in their wise use supported by the culture of collaboration in your group. Therefore, building your collaboration campus is preceded by a strategic learning conversation to identify key organisational issues to pay attention to in its design and implementation. Value PropositionsThe principal proposition of the CIL Collaboration Campus™ is to inspire and enable the next level of collaboration competence in and across user communities. The campus combines state-of-the-art collaborative learning methods and customizable process templates with web-based technologies, to let its users reach their learning objectives faster, and to meet increasingly critical challenges and opportunities as they emerge. In addition, it will enable:
